Thee Silver Mount Zion Orchestra returns to Oxford for the first time since 2007 and their comeback falls in line with the release of their sixth studio album Kollaps Tradixionales. It is also the first time that they will be playing the new album since it was recorded. The band will be touring as the new line up Efrim Menuck, David Payant, Jessica Moss, Sophie Trudeau and Thierry Amar.

In support will be a super special one off collaboration between epic, cult drone pop orchestra Bleeding Heart Narrative and improvised noise rock act Braindead Collective.

S.O.U.L Presents SOUL II SOUL Featuring the Legendary Caron Wheeler

Soul II Soul is a British double award-winning Grammy act that emerged from London at the end of the 1980s . The group initially attracted attention as a sound system, playing records at house and street parties (where their clothing style - dubbed "Funki Dred" - quickly made a splash, inspiring them to start a line of clothing).

Founded by Jazzie B and featuring a changing roster of other musicians - notably Nellee Hooper, Simon Law, Phillip 'Daddae' Harvey and Caron Wheeler - Soul II Soul's experiments in music-making of their own resulted in the dub plate "Fairplay," which secured them a deal with Virgin Records.

They had huge hits in 1989 with the singles "Keep on Movin'" and "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)", both from their debut album Club Classics Vol. One. These songs (both featuring Wheeler on vocals) set the tone for early 1990s mainstream dance music in the UK.

This is an Exclusive 2 hr Show including performances from Aitch B / MC Chicaboo and Jazzie B Plus some surprise guests...

 CocoRosie

Over the course of the last two years CocoRosie have recorded their new album "Grey Oceans" in various places all over the world. The new band member Gael Rakotondrabe, a jazz pianist from Reunion Island who grew up playing Creole music, became their kindred, musical spirit and creative partner in so many of the songs on this album. His willingness to try anything in the realm of sound has allowed for an explosive alchemy in collaborative song writing, leading to the completion of the new album with little trace of the ocean disco from which CocoRosie embarked.Â
"Between our two vocal stylings we have pushed even further, our differences and played with this dualism to show an inner and outer world expression in the characters of our songs."
Another gate to the CocoRosie universe will open up with the release of their next album. Released by PIAS in the UK on May 3rd.

Performing in Oxford for the first time, this will be a truly unique event.

LIMEHOUSE LIZZY - THE GREATEST HITS OF PHIL LYNOTT & THIN LIZZY

Renowned for an action-packed pyrothechnic-fuelled explosion of a show, Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide.

Attention to detail, playful audience interaction and that all important X-factor that leaves you with the feeling of witnessing the real thing have led to their performance being described as “beyond tribute”, by both audience and critics alike.

Following the enormous success of their  “Live & Dangerous” & “Dedication” tours, the band embarked upon their “Into the Limelight 2008 tour to tie in with their appearance on an episode of BBC2´s “Arena” documentary series of the same name. The tour travelled as far as a headline slot at the Rhodes Rock festival in Greece, and the Virgin Atlantic Music festival in Barbados. The band appeared alongside diverse world music acts, and played a Thin Lizzy set representing the celtic rock genre.

Their latest tour continues to explore and celebrate the artistic and musical legacy of the hard-living, hard-rocking, yet at times surprisingly tender and romantic artist that was Philip Lynott.

Expect Celtic influenced tracks like “Whisky in the Jar” and “Black Rose”‚ amongst the usual razzamatazz and classic tracks “The Boys are Back in Town”‚ “Sarah” and many others we´ve come to expect from one of the most highly rated acts on the circuit.
